Construction sites are bustling locations with what appears to be an endless number of individuals contributing in a variety of positions and specialties. With so many talented people working on the same project, senior management teams are generally in charge of providing direction and order. Site supervisors serve as a link between the workers on the ground and the top management teams in charge of the project.

SITE SAFETY SUPERVISOR
Helps the main contractor to meet the requirements of FMA and any Regulations made thereunder and promote the safe conduct of work generally within the worksite.

Site Safety Supervisor

A construction site safety supervisor is in charge of monitoring or managing construction sites and ensuring that workers conform to government safety regulations and requirements.

The principal contractor must appoint a site safety supervisor for the safety monitoring of construction operations inside the site, according to Regulation 25 (1) of the Factories and Machinery (Building Operations and Works of Engineering Construction) (Safety) Regulations 1986 [BOWEC]. The following are some of the responsibilities of the site safety supervisor:

  • Inspecting the construction site for any dangerous situations and correcting them;
  • Correcting any potentially hazardous behaviour;
  • Inspecting the work of subcontractors to ensure that the Act and the Regulations promulgated thereunder are followed, and
  • Liaise with the contractor’s safety supervisors appointed under Regulation 26 in regards to the safety of subcontractors’ work.

Supervisors that are successful have a high level of integrity. They exhibit honesty, sincerity, constancy, and credibility regardless of whether or not they might offend someone or face unpleasant confrontation or undesirable consequences.
